Como se descodifica o vinho? Simplificando! Como se simplifica? Simples, de copo na mão, num ambiente descontraído, sentindo na primeira pessoa as sensações que os seus criadores pretendem transmitir, que, de igual para igual com os restantes amantes do vinho e promovendo a socialização que deve sempre estar associada ao vinho, nos explicam as lógicas por detrás das garrafas, sem segredos e com paixão!

Todos estes pressupostos se reuniram no passado Sábado 20 de Abril, num evento impecavelmente organizado pelo novíssimo lobby pro-Dão, #daowinelover, constituído por dois apaixonados da região e declaradamente conhecedores da sua história vínica, Miguel Pereira (Pingamor) e Rui Miguel Massa (Pingus Vinicus/Pingas no Copo).

Conclusions (16,75/20) - very good quality wine, shows varietal character with ripe but fresh notes of black fruits and intense notes of violet, which are fairly restrained. Fluid texture with velvety tannins, that just show their presence on the finish, makes it a very enjoyable drink right away but it can be held for 2 to 3 years. Super polished wine, not specially complex but good drinkability.

Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Conclusions (16,25/20) - good quality wine showing well some of the grapes attributes but not that much Napa. Interesting aromatics, nice fruit weight, enters the palate showing juicy but cuts off on the mid palate with its slightly drying tannins. Nevertheless this gives it character and cuts through the ripeness. Could get mellower in a couple of years but is ready to drink now with a good 2 hour decanting.

Conclusions (15,75/20) - good quality, candid but fresh, an interesting blend in aromatic terms but also towards its balance. There's freshness and weight, a rounded palate, rich in ripe fruity components but still managing to be fresh. The ripe notes are toned down by tropical and herbaceous nuances. A step ahead the BSE, more consensual, and a very good value for money.

Conclusions (15,25/20) - Good quality, nice aromatic and flavour profile with enough fruit weight and adequate enjoyable length. Very smooth, velvety palate, seamlessly caressing the whole of your mouth while going down effortlessly. Sweetish character. A soft acidity, a little to soft for me, which is striping off some vivacity that would be appreciated. Very composed wine that I see the majority loving just not my style.

Buçaco wines - tasting history

Historical tasting in historical surroundings! To taste the Buçaco wines is to taste history, it is an ultra rich experience. To taste them exactly in their birthplace and noble home it's simply legendary. We received this ultra honourable invitation from João Rico to be present at a special tasting at Bussaco Palace Hotel, organised by the wine organisation Baga Friends, which included a grand master tasting of several of Buçaco's vintages and with the extra bonus of tasting some older vintages from other producers of the for mentioned cluster.
