Appearance - clear and bright medium plus ruby colour with visible tears.
Nose - clean, youthful, medium plus intensity aromas much in line with the Riserva 2008, but a little more closed and less expressive.
Palate - dry, medium plus acidity, medium plus ripe and rounded tannins, medium alcohol and medium plus body. Medium plus intensity flavours of ripe cherry, some sweet spice, a trace of pungent black pepper and just the slightest gamey note. Long length.
Conclusions (16,75) - very good quality wine, but for me not as characterful as the 2008 and hinting more at the Merlot influence. Creamy palate with a ripe fruit concentration but still balanced by excellent acidity and offering a long, flavorsome aftertaste. Drink now but will open up through the next 5 years.
