Appearance -clear and bright, exhibits a deep garnet colour with a slightly clearer rim. Some visible tears.
Nose - clean, still developing, showing medium plus intensity aromas resembling black fruits, like blackberry, bramble, ripe cherry, hint of blackcurrant and a minty note. There's an undertone of leather and a mineral earthy touch.
Palate - dry with medium but refreshing acidity, a high tannin level that are chalky and robust, medium plus warming alcohol and a a robust full body. Flavour intensity maintaining medium plus intensity once more dominated by black fruits, more evidence of blackcurrant, a note of raisins some powdery coffee notes, earthy and pungent spicy notes of black pepper.
Conclusions (16,5/20) - Very good quality wine, showing clear sense of place with the intense brambly, rustic character and powerfully well structured, lots of grip! Still full of fruit that is balancing out the marked tannins, showing abilities to endure some mellowing on the road to a more harmonious state, also there is enough acidity to balance the components. Very long length on the palate with lots of black fruits and earthy, spicy notes. Although this wine is already 12 years old I see it improving for at least 5 years and enduring some more. Will show it's best arguments paired with rich, read meat dishes.
But beware of the terms rustic and robust, if you're a fruity, velvet feel lover, stir away from this one.
