Château
Rolland-Maillet 2005 Saint-Emilion AC Grand Cru
Tasted on April 2010
Appearance –
clear, deep ruby. Slightly paler rim, some tears.
Nose –
clean, medium intensity, youthful. Aromas of red fruits like raspberries and
blueberry, some plum.
Palate –
dry, medium acidity and tannin, medium plus alcohol and medium body. Medium
flavour intensity with red fruits more like cherry, a salty character and hints
of old wood. A little earthy. Medium length.
Conclusions (15/20)
– Good, premium, ready to drink but will improve. Simple fruity wine, with
mainly Merlot character. Lacks complexity.
