Conti Caponi Villa Calcinaia Chianti Classico 2009
Grapes - 90 % Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo Appearance - clear and bright pale intensity ruby colour. Some visible tears. Nose - clean, youthful with medium intensity aromas of ripe red cherries, liquorice, some undergrowth, a flowery touch of violets and just traces of earthy minerality. Palate - dry, medium plus refreshing acidity, medium plus tannin level medium plus alcohol and medium minus body. A medium flavour intensity with fresh red cherries, a mix of sweet and sour, raspberry, very floral, steely mineral touch with an earthy finish with medium plus length. Conclusions (15,75/20) - good quality, showing sense of place, simple character but with a fair balance between fruit weight, alcohol and the fresh acidity. A light body with a great vivacity renders it a great drink-ability and a great food partner. Although fluid and light in texture it shows a nice structure that will permit the wine to develop through the next 3 years.
