Grapes - 100% Syrah Appearance - clear, bright, shows a medium plus intensity ruby color, the transformation to garnet is starting.
Nose - clean, developing aromas of pronounced intensity resembling black forest fruits like blackberry and blackcurrant, lovely meaty and leather animal tones, some pungent black pepper and a smoky, waxy oak note.
Palate - dry, medium plus acidity, correct for the ensemble, medium plus level of powdery tannins, medium body and alcohol level. Medium plus flavors are tending to more animal and savory notes, spicy licorice, kernal coffee notes with the creamy black fruits on the background. Peppery and earthy, chalky mineral long length.
Conclusions (18,25/20) - very good quality wine, showing clear northern Rhone typicity, muscular, fresh, deeply scented, tannic and structured with a nice savoury profile, all backed by a nice, creamy fruit weight and plenty of mouthwatering acidity. A complex wine showing a god development of aromas and flavours and a long earthy, spicy length. A classic! To drink know plan ahead and decant for at least 1 hour, it pops reduced from the bottle but when it starts to open up we get a sneak preview of all its potential beauty. This wine should keep nicely for at least 10 years more. Pairings don't stop coming to mind, herbs seasoned grilled meats, all types of game and matured meat and some red meat stews.
