Domaine de Beaurenard 2004 Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Tasted on June 2010
Appearance – clear, medium ruby. Slight rim, high level of tears.
Nose – clean, medium plus intensity, developing. Aromas of very ripe fruit, blackcurrant, fig and a hint of sweet cinnamon spice.
Palate – dry, medium acidity, medium plus tannin, high alcohol and medium plus body. Flavour intensity is medium plus with dark fruit like blackberry, blackcurrant, plummy, sweet spice and a liquorice after-taste. Long length.
Conclusions (18/20) – Outstanding quality, premium priced, ready to drink but will improve with age, could be kept for at least 10 years. Lots of fruit, solid structure and nice acidity. A very savoury wine.
