Dow's Quinta do Bonfim Vintage Port 1999 (Single Quinta)
Tasted December 2011
Appearance - clear and bright, deep ruby colour. Some tears and almost no rim contrast.
Nose - clear, still youthful with pronounced intensity aromas of fresh black fruits like wild blueberry, fig, some fruit cake, hints of vanilla and liquorice.
Palate - medium sweet, medium plus refreshing acidity, high fortification level, full body, medium plus tannin level, nicely rounded and well integrated. Pronounced flavour intensity, full of wild black fruits, lots of sweet spices, fig and some eucalyptus. A supple mouth-feel in a harmonious ensemble with a long lengthy after taste.
Conclusions (17,5/20) - Very good quality, components are starting to mellow, still full of intensity with fruit concentration in evidence but already showing some harmony. The fresh character gives it inciting liveliness. Ready to drink but will keep for 10 years further, probably peeking in 5 years. Has a power-full length.
