Appearance - clear and bright, lemon-green hue of pale intensity.
Nose - clean, youthful, medium intensity. Aromas are closed for now, what comes clearer are minerally stony notes, some fresh green fruit, mainly pear, citric lime notes, white flowers and just a slight smoky hint.
Palate - dry, high acidity, medium body and alcohol. Medium intensity flavours are consistent with the nose with some star anise, white peeper and herbal notes added. Very long length brings some savoury, salty notes and some roasted almonds.
Conclusion (18/20) - fantastic! An extreme freshness ride, so crunchy and vibrant. Very savoury, salty and slightly smoky. Super elegant oak work that gives it structure and balances out the acid aided by the perfect fruit weight. For now this is a wine to enjoy only if to serve with a particularly salty dish, a smoky sushi or to cut through some very fatty dishes. It has a brilliant future and it will show its best at least 5 years from now. I will surely stock some of this including a magnum that I won't touch for at least 10 years (if Wines 9297 can help here...).
