Juan Carrau Chardonnay Cepas Nobles 2009, Canelones Uruguay
Tasted May 2012
Appearance - Clear and bright with a medium intensity lemon color and a broad watery rim.
Nose - clean, youthful aromas with medium intensity, showing citrus fruits resembling fresh ripe lemons, ripe green apples, stone fruits notes mainly of white peaches, a saline hint and slightly toasted aroma.
Palate - dry with medium plus fresh acidity, medium alcohol level and body. Flavour intensity is medium, once again showcasing a fresh citric character, green apples, peach, an acacia flowery hint and a much less noticeable toast note.
Conclusions (15/20) - good quality, fresh fruit flavours well balanced by the marked acidity, racy but very one sided and asking for some more concentration of flavour. Ready to drink, not intended for ageing. Seems like a nice match for mussels.
