La Chablisienne Chablis AC La Pierrelée 2006, Burgundy, France
Tasted May 2012
Appearance - clear and bright with a lemon, straw colour of medium intensity.
Nose - clean, still youthful and fresh with medium intensity aromas of ripe green apple and pear, some nectarine and a splash of sea water.
Palate - dry, medium plus acidity, medium alcohol and body. Medium plus flavour intensity of ripe apricots, again some ripe green fruit, stony and smoky minerality, slight salty sensation and a bit of toasty oak. Medium plus length.
Conclusions (16,5/20) - very good quality, showing clear sense of place. Good volume and nice texture on the palate, vibrant and precise fruit aromas, slightly more creamier than most village Chablis but very fresh with mouthwatering acidity. Showing perfect drink ability right now, but with enough structure to endure a couple more years in bottle.
