Les Berger dus Temps is a family business all the way, with Antoine managing the kitchen, tending our food with smoky love and his wife Roselyne spreading her open kindness with the guests at the tables, giving way to a relaxed familiar meal.
This place is a bit far from the main wine and tourist routes, but is well worth the detour if your aim is to have a fantastic meal and evening, no rush allowed. It is located 2km away from Beaune in Montagny les Beaune.
It is a seasonal menu, offering only dishes cooked with the most fresh and natural ingredients. Practically all the dishes are cooked inside a traditional wood-burning oven, a slow and gentle process that confers unique flavours while keeping all the natural juices in the food. Intensity and perfect texture are both perks of this millennial cooking art.
Desert was served in a bowl, a delicious, scrumptious chocolate mousse, that we were challenged to finish off. Although we tried and tried it was not possible, but we would gladly be back to try again, in fact we will!
It was a lovely dinner in an unforgettably kitsch, cosy and rustic environment.
