Pedra Cancela Selecção do Enólogo 2010 red DOC Dão
Tasted February 2013
Appearance - clear with a bright ruby colour with medium plus intensity. Some visible tears.
Nose - clean, youthful with medium plus intensity. Very precise and fresh red fruits aromatics of cherry, restrained floral notes of violet, some minty herbal nuances and just a touch of sweet oak.
Palate - dry, medium plus acidity seamlessly integrated in the medium body, fine grained tannins with medium presence and medium alcohol level. Medium plus flavour intensity with lots of ripe red fruits, notes of sweet and sour cherry and some strawberry. Some oaky notes and violet floral hints. Tasty medium plus length.
Conclusions (16/20) - good quality, fresh and giving, not classic but enjoyable. Very well knitted although somewhat lacking in character. A modern approach to the Dão region with a juicy, sweetish and smooth, rounded palate. Although generous in sweet fruity notes its lifted by a lively acidity. I see it as globally appealing. Drink now for the fun of it.
