José Maria da Fonseca - Quinta de Camarate Dry White 2011, Regional Setúbal
Tasted March 2012
Grapes - Alvarinho (56%) and Verdelho (44%)
Appearance - Clear and bright with a lively pale gold colour.
Nose - clean, very youthful and with medium minus intensity. Aromas are mainly fresh stone fruits resembling white peach and nectarine, a floral hint of chamomile with a light tropical undertone.
Palate - wine is dry, has correct and fresh medium level of acidity, with medium minus alcohol and medium body. Flavour intensity wise it goes a little further than the nose to a medium level, and consistently maintains the profile with notes of peach, nectarine, some orange peel and a floral trace. Palate is also showing more evident tropical notes, mainly resembling pineapple. A medium length.
Conclusions (15,5/20) - Good quality wine, perfect for drinking socially with no worries, a party pleaser. Fruity, fresh, fleshy and uncomplicated, showing a nice balance between the ripe fruit and acids. Will be a nice summer drink.
