Susana Balbo Signature Malbec 2010 Mendoza Argentina
Tasted April 2013
Appearance - clear and bright beautiful purple colour with deep intensity. Some thick visible tears.
Nose - clean with medium plus intensity aromas that are developing Rich aroma of ripe black fruits, mainly blackberry and cherry, some red plum, creamy dairy notes, coffee powder, and oaky notes resembling a mocha espresso and some vanilla.
Palate - dry, soft medium acidity, medium plus level of firm but totally ripe and integrated tannins, medium plus body and alcohol. Pronounced intensity flavours of rich red and black fruits like plum, blackberry and cherry, lots of creamy character, sweetened coffee, mocha, vanilla and a slight hint of tobacco leaf and earthy undertones on the long lengthy finish.
Conclusions (16,75/20) - very good quality, super polished and indulgent but racy. Chewy, rich and creamy palate, velvety, mouth-coating texture, full of resonating fruit coated by nice oaky notes. Its balanced by the firm structure and some tannin spiciness more evident on the earthy dry finish, but perfectly it would need more acidity. Can drink now, it's an intense pleasure ride, but might develop further. Land of indulgence
