Torres Gran Viña Sol Chardonnay 2008 Penedès Spain
Tasted May 2012
Grapes - Chardonnay (85%) and Parellada (15%)
Appearance - clear and bright, medium minus intensity golden colour.
Nose - clean, developing aromas with medium intensity resembling ripe stone fruits like peach, ripe green apples, a floral chamomile note, some citrus hints of orange zest and an autolityc trace of toasted bread.
Palate - dry with medium acidity and alcohol level and medium plus body. Medium intensity flavours in tune with the nose with a spicy note on the finish, which has a medium plus length.
Conclusions (16/20) - very good quality wine, fluid and supple, voluminous and round but fresh and vibrant, showing even a note of austerity which is welcome. Interesting blend of grapes, body and structure from Chardonnay spiked by Parellada with its crispy character. Pretty ready to drink right now.
