Nose - clean, fully developed aromas with medium intensity showing ripe red apple and apricot, some pouched pear, almond and hints of sherry and honey.
Palate - Dry, medium plus acidity, some noticeable tannins, medium alcohol and body. Medium intensity flavours dominated by the almonds and red apples, still some ripe apricot with hints of white pepper and a salty note. Medium length.
Conclusions (16,5/20) - Very good quality, premium priced (€18), this is classic old-style white Rioja showing the complexity acquired from prolonged oak maturation (4 years). Crisp acidity assures a lively drinking experience while appreciating the nicely evolved complex aromatics, would just benefit from a little extra fruit concentration for improved balance. Drink now with no concerns. This wine is thought for the table, being able to marry well with all sorts of fish dishes from lean to fat.
